The land
This home sits on 2 acres of trees on a lake lot in Quinlan. The house was placed among the existing oaks, so the property keeps its wooded feel on every side.
The design
We built this modern farmhouse from the homeowners’ own plans: about 3,100 square feet of living space and 4,500 square feet under roof across two stories, with four bedrooms and three and a half baths. The exterior is board and batten over a brick wainscot, with covered porches front and back and a roof of 30-year shingles with standing-seam metal accents.
Inside
The great room rises to a vaulted wood-plank ceiling with exposed trusses and a wall of tall windows looking out into the trees. The build took about eight months.
